Planned server downtime

Hey folks...

We have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that our server techs are being super proactive (woo-hoo!).

The bad news is that they're going to need to install some super critical security patches, and we don't have a lot of control over what time they do it. They're estimating less than an hour of down time, but we don't have control over exactly when it happens.

What's going on here? Well, recently, there was a bug discovered (probably by our old pal AI, who is really good at finding obscure holes in infrastructure) which can potentially let someone on one server in a cluster of servers gain access to other servers in that same cluster. We haven't been affected, but it's got to be patched ASAP.

So take a look at the bottom of one of your CSA pages to find your server's IP address, and check out the chart below to see when you can expect your downtime to happen. We will be updating this list and adding a notification to your site as maintenance windows for other servers are planned.

While this is down, you won't be able to access the site. The portal will not be active. And any Shopify sales that happen won't necessarily get communicated to Comic Shop Assistant, so you'll want to prepare for this.

In our shop, we will have our staff ready to take photos of barcodes and make notes of what they're selling. Using a calculator or a spreadsheet to calculate sales tax, and deferring any special order/subscription updates to sticky notes. I know Comic Shop Assistant has probably drastically reduced your sticky note consumption, but I'm sure you still have some laying around, right?

With any luck, this will happen for you before or after hours, but please be sure to prepare just in case!
